Looks good, but can you add some shadow cast by the lightning rods on the background circles, or make the lightning in a 3D shape, to increase depth perception? Some more light and dark areas could perhaps enhance this effect. Now, even though you have a cool animation, it all seems a bit 'flat', if you know what I mean.
This is no critique, merely a suggestion ;)
